weaving

a breathing soundfield

Intuition leads, but practice grounds. Experience taught me that instruments sharing the same keynote often fight to win each other over. In relatives and overtones, instruments gently call each other and breathe as one.

In curating my constellations, I ground myself in what music knows, the circle of fifths as a harmonic compass, the key- and homenote characteristics according to Schubart & Charpentier, and Alan Cowen’s Berkeley research on emotional responses to music across cultures.

Once I have centred the gongconstellation around its keynote, I weave the fabric and let the field unfold. Each holds a chord that never fully closes, centred enough to trust, yet open to keep reaching. My hand follows my heart, but the heart knows where it is.
